Spreading Holiday Cheer Through Salvation Army’s Adopt-A-Family Program

This week, we had the pleasure of participating in the Salvation Army’s Christmas Adopt-A-Family program, an initiative designed to help out low-income families during the holidays and times of need. Year after year, this program continues to be a meaningful and heartwarming way for us to give back to families within our community during the holiday season.

This year, YTI was proud to help out a total of 36 participants enrolled in the program, including both families and individual children. Contributions were shared across departments, with the Rail, Yard, Marine, and Customer Service and Communications teams each taking on four children, while Dispatch took on five. Coming together as one team allowed us to make a meaningful difference for families and children who need it most during this special time of year.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Barbara Jansen for spearheading this program at YTI for several years. As she prepares to retire at the end of this year, we want to recognize her dedication, leadership, and continued commitment to giving back. Her efforts have made a lasting impact, and she will be greatly missed as she begins her next chapter.

Giving back as a team made this holiday season even more meaningful, and we are proud to be part of a workplace and community that values compassion, generosity, and connection.
